Z3 compact tablet core features
Super-slim, rugged design - The Sony Z3 tablet compact is just 6.4mm thick, making it thinner than the iPad Air, at 7.5mm. Weighing in at a featherweight 270g, the Z3 compact has an 8-inch, Full HD screen with Live Colour LED technology. Like other Sony Z devices, it is rated to IP68 for water and dust protection, so it’s rugged as well as stylish.
Power – As well as running Android 4.4.4 KitKat , the Xperia Z tablet compact is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Quad-core 2.5 GHz processor with 3GB RAM. A Qualcomm Adreno 330 GPU is claimed to give 25% better graphics performance on previous Xperia tablets. To keep you going with all this performance, the tablet’s battery is claimed to give 13 hours of ‘high quality video playback’.
Remote play - If you own a PS4, the Z3 compact could be very attractive to you. Both the smartphone and tablet have PS4 remote play – this means you can play PS4 games on your device over the same home wi-fi network as your console. Just connect it to your gamepad via a special mount, and you’re good to go.
Camera - Tablets aren’t generally used to take pictures, but the Z3 compact tablet has an 8.1 megapixel camera on the rear if you do want capture what you’re doing on the 8-inch screen. It also has a 2.2MP HD camera on the front that could be used for video calls, such as over Skype. There are a range of additional services, such as the ability to record from multiple angles or create movies from photos or videos.
Z3 compact smartphone - In addition to the tablet, Sony has also announced a Z3 compact smartphone that will offer a smaller option to the Z3 flagship. With a 4.6-inch screen compared to the latter’s 5.2-inch, the compact feels a bit more manageable to use in one hand, but it still offers many of it’s bigger brother’s features, including a Full HD screen, quad-core processor and long-lasting battery
